Recognized for his observational style and unique focus on public institutions, Frederick Wiseman (Titicut Follies, Zoo, Welfare, La Danse, Ex Libris: The New York Public Library, National Gallery…) has crafted 45 films over the course of his career. Leading up to the release of his newest film, City Hall, The Screening Room is proudly partnering with Zipporah Films to showcase a classic documentary from the director each week in its virtual cinema, accompanied by recorded discussions between Wiseman himself and other top filmmakers in the field.

In recognition of his contributions to documentary filmmaking, the series begins on October 21st with Academy Award winner Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi (Free Solo) speaking with Wiseman about Ballet (1995). On October 28th, Academy Award winner Errol Morris (The Fog of War) follows with a discussion about Sinai Field Mission (1978), and on November 4th, Academy Award nominees Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady (Jesus Camp) cap the series and pay tribute to health care workers with Hospital (1970). Get to know Wiseman intimately before watching his latest masterwork, which was filmed regionally in our state capital. City Hall will play in The Screening Room’s virtual cinema in November.
