Based on the novella, Foster, by Claire Keegan, The Quiet Girl is written and directed by first-time feature filmmaker Colm Bairéad with a sensitivity that at times feels magical.

Cáit is a nine-year old girl who’s living on a falling-down farm with an overcrowded, dysfunctional family. Shipped off for the summer with no knowledge of when she will return home and left only with the clothes she is wearing, she finds herself with Seán and Eibhlín Kinsella, a middle-aged farming couple she has never met. In their care, she slowly blossoms and discovers a human kindness she never imagined existed. But in this house full of affection, there is a secret.
