Showtimes June 20 - 26:
Adapted from a novella by Stephen King, and an example of some of his most optimistic work, The Life of Chuck is a very un-ordinary story about an ordinary accountant. In the beginning of the film, wherever Marty (Chiwetel Ejiofor) goes, everybody is saying “goodbye” to someone called Chuck. Chuck’s face shows up on billboards and window signs, even on TV commercials. Just as you begin to wonder who this man is and why he warrants such a send-off, not to mention what his connection is to Marty, his life story begins to unravel. Going back to Chuck’s childhood, his grandfather teaches him about accounting and his grandmother passes on a love for dancing. All the while, however, they’re keeping him from a prophetic secret in the attic… Moving gracefully between grandiosity and intimacy, The Life of Chuck is an ode to the multiple lives within each of us, to the nostalgia that we carry, and to the miracle it is that we’re alive in the first place.
