Pietro and Bruno (Luca Marinelli & Alessandro Borghi) meet as children in the mountains, where Pietro’s family vacations near Bruno’s home. As young boys, they become fast friends, but their paths diverge when they grow older and Pietro goes away to school. When they’re reunited by the death of Pietro’s father, they learn it was his dream to construct a mountainside cabin, and they decide to take on the project together. Their pursuit, and subsequent explorations of the awe-inspiring mountain range, bond the two in a new, shared purpose. Winner of the Jury Prize at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, The Eight Mountains is intoxicating.
