With its impeccable pacing, art direction, and acting from a cast including Cilian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Josh Hartnett, and Rami Malek, Oppenheimer is being hailed as a spectacular cinematic achievement. Tense and exciting from start to finish, it’s a character study on the grandest scale, with a narrative arc that builds and builds until a moment film writer Lindsey Bahr describes as “awe-inspiring.” Yet it’s also a serious philosophical drama.
