This incredible, emotional true story centers on a young British professional who visits Prague in December of 1938. In a race against time, he convinces the British Committee for Refugees in Czechoslovakia to rescue hundreds of predominantly Jewish children before Nazi occupation closes the country’s borders. 50 years later, Nicky is haunted by the fate of the children he couldn’t bring to safety in England. But when the BBC show That’s Life! re-introduces him to some of those he did help rescue and catapults him into the spotlight as a national hero, he begins to come to terms with the guilt and grief he carried for so many years. Grounded by powerful performances from Anthony Hopkins, Lena Olin, Helena Bonham Carter, and Jonathan Pryce, One Life is an example of the monumental impacts humanitarian efforts can create.
