OLDBOY

Showtimes September 15-21:

Restored and remastered, Park Chan-wook’s seminal 2003 film is returning to theaters. A loose adaptation of the Japanese manga of the same name, the film follows the story of Oh Dae-su (Choi Min-sik), who is myseriously kidnapped and improsoned with no human contact for 15 without knowing his captor’s identity or motives. Suddenly released, he finds himself in a twisted game of cat and mouse, with only 5 days to retrace his past, track down his captors, and get his revenge. Firmly ensconced in cult status, OLDBOY went on to inspire a 2013 remake from Spike Lee.

“Shakespearean in its violence, OLDBOY also calls up nightmare images of spiritual and physical isolation that are worthy of Samuel Beckett or Dostoyevsky.”Joe Morgenstern, Wall Street Journal
