Showtimes July 12 - 18:
From visionary director Yorgos Lanthimos (Poor Things, The Favourite, The Lobster) comes this triptych fable following a man who’s trying to take control of his own life, a policeman whose missing-at-sea wife returns and seems a different person, and a woman determined to find someone destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader. As it tackles everything from power and control to the casual cruelty of love and relationships, it blends darkly absurdist comedy with the director’s fascinating brand of sociological insight to deliver a film so unique, it could only come from Lanthimos. Featuring knockout performances by Emma Stone, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, and Jesse Plemmons (who won Best Actor at Cannes for his performance), this is a dizzyingly creative set of stories which manage to be discordantly amusing and strangely exhilarating all at once. “A cinematic salt-rub,” if you will. – Screen International.
