Showtimes November 7 - 13:
After being censored and imprisoned, recently released after a hunger strike and an international campaign, Jafar Panahi returns with a thriller that won him the Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. In it, Vahid (Vahid Mobasseri), an unassuming mechanic, is suddenly reminded of his time in an Iranian prison when he has a chance encounter with a man he strongly suspects to be his jailhouse captor, Eghbal, aka “Pegleg.” Panicked, Vahid rounds up a few of his fellow ex-prisoners to help confirm Eghbal's identity, including Shiva (Mariam Afshari), a spitfire wedding photographer, and a bride named Golrokh (Hadis Pakbaten), who brings her groom and their impetuous friend along for the ride. Confronting the man they believe was a sadistic torturer, the group faces an ethical dilemma. What should they do now? Master filmmaker Jafar Panahi creates a deeply felt moral thriller, where high stakes tension combines with unexpected flurries of humor and thoughtful, sometimes devastating questions regarding persecution and revenge.
