Everything Everywhere All at Once

Showtimes May 2 - 5:

Based on the premise that every conceivable variation of our lives exists in some alternate universe or other, Everything Everywhere All at Once is a wildly imaginative story of endless metaverses. Whether full of dirty laundry, divorce papers, Benihana restaurants and IRS agents, or telepathic rocks, googly eyes and weaponized fanny packs, they all exist, as promised, at once.

In HER universe, the first Evelyn (Michelle Yeoh) we meet is anxious, disappointed, and exhausted. She and her husband, Waymond (Ke Huy Quan) live above their business, a run-down laundromat. Her father, Gong (James Hong), is visiting, and she worries about pleasing him. She also worries that her daughter, Joy (Stephanie Hsu) is directionless. And, to top everything off, her laundromat is being audited by a grim IRS bureaucrat named Deirdre (Jamie Leigh Curtis).

In the midst of Dierdre’s questions about the laundromat’s receipts, a Waymond from another universe arrives to tell Evelyn that all of the multiverses are under attack, and that only she – of the thousands of Evelyns throughout the multiverses – can save the day. To do that, she will need to gain access to the memories of all her counterparts. This leads to a dazzlingly kaleidoscopic adventure that is genuinely thrilling and often hilarious, with sensational martial arts fights in an astounding array of settings, and a roller coaster of surprising twists and turns. Another explosion of creativity from the directors of Swiss Army Man, there’s so much here, you could watch the movie repeatedly and have a different experience every time.
