Beau is Afraid

Showtimes April 28 - May 4:

While it’s too early to say wether Aster’s third film is his best, it’s certainly his most ambitious to date. The story of a man who’s either doomed from birth or simply dealing with a complex set of mommy issues, it features a fascinating performance from Joaquin Phoenix, who actualizes what it looks like for a boy to suddenly stop growing up.

Expertly dissolving the line between the personal and the pathological, the film ekes existential horror out of more universal humanistic impulses. But it’s also Aster’s funniest movie yet. Challenging in the most thrilling ways possible, those willing to ride this mind-bending wave will find themselves rewarded.
