In Radu Jude’s (Aferim!) provocative comedy, a schoolteacher named Emi (Katia Pascariu) finds her career and reputation under threat after a personal sex tape is leaked on the Internet. Forced to meet the parents demanding her dismissal, Emi refuses to surrender to their pressure.

Filmed entirely during Bucharest’s lockdown, Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn delivers a mix of unconventional form, irreverent humor, and scathing commentary on hypocrisy and prejudice in our societies. The story is told across three loosely connected parts, opening with a walk through the city of Bucharest, transitioning to a playful essay on obscenities, and culminating in an incendiary and comical confrontation. Winner of the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival, Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn is Romania’s official entry for Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards.
