Showtimes November 22 - 27:

Mikey Madison (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) captivates as Anora, or Ani as she prefers to be called. She’s a young woman who lives in a shabby Brooklyn apartment above the rattle of a subway, but every night, she glams up, puts on a flirty smile, and becomes a fantasy, dancing for men at a glitzy NY club. One evening, she finds herself talking to Vanya (Mark Eidelshtein), a young Russian boy who gleefully throws around his parents’ money. His lavish lifestyle and his innocence both work to charm her, and the two fall into a whirlwind romance. She shows him a good time, he opens the door to a charmed life she could only have imagined, and everything is beautiful… until Vanya’s parents catch wind of how he’s spending his time and who he’s spending it with.

Painting the air blue with her profanity, Madison is unflinching, delivering an unforgettably charismatic performance. And Anora showcases yet another incredible actor-director partnership for Baker, who builds here on his work in Tangerine, The Florida Project, and Red Rocket. A director in brilliant command of his craft, Baker not only upholds a tragicomical tone but delivers a story that does something truthful, unexpected, and deeply moving.

When accepting his award, Baker spoke from the podium about the importance of the moviegoing experience: "Watching a film with others in a movie theater is one of the great communal experiences… We share laughter, sorrow, anger, fear and hopefully have a catharsis with our friends and strangers. So I say the future of cinema is where it started: in a movie theater.” Come see Anora with us.
